Runtime error 429 Active X component can't create object

Runtime error 429 Active X component can't create object, this message keeps appearing twice and I can't run RMS Manager and POS only Administrator. I tried to reinstalled RMS and the Epson OPOS but still appears this message and can't get logged.

Had this many times before. Something in your MSDE installation got overwritten probably.

If this is your server computer, BACK UP your data - manually if you have to. I can't stress this enough. You will need to restore your database later... I would actualyl find the .mdf and .ldf files themselves and back them up. Search this forum to get previous threads on this. If this is just a POS or back office computer, no worries. Just follow the directions below.

From Control Panel/Add Remove Programs:

- Remove RMS

- Remove MSDE

Restart computer

- Reinstall MSDE (it will do it automatically if it is not found during RMS installation)

- Reinstall RMS

It seems that some software installations, including Windows Updates and other Microsoft software installations, corrupt part of the MSDE configuration or files. This is the only procedure I have found to correct the problem. You might find posts about re-registering dll files, but this has never worked for me.

Good luck!

One thing I always found bizarre is that Microsoft wants to hide the solution to a problem with thier software. Doing something with MS software on a MS operating system corrupts another MS product's ability to run... and they want to hide the solution.

I have a mind to just post the article here. Does anyone who pays for this content really care if the rest of the world knows?

I've fixed this many times with either the KB article here;

formatting link
or by running a repair of RMS. One program I ran into recently that whacked RMS out was Thunderbird.

What I'm saying is that nobody should have to pay for it. If they put out crap software, we shouldn't have to pay for a fix!

I see a maintenance plan as paying for solutions to business problems and software upgrades - not fixes to problems and bugs that shouldn't have existed in the first place...

I agree with you. But since we do have to pay for access to these KB articles on fixes/workarounds no one should get it for free. What makes one person better than the other that they should get it for free. As long as MS is going to charge for access to it then no one should get a freebie. I am a very small business with limited funds but I want to be able to fix issues without always running to a VAR so I have to pay for it. If someone doesn't want to pay that's fine, but they will have to go to a VAR or someone else with the knowledge to help them, not get information for free that everyone else is paying for. Craig
