tractor fed printer and get a propperly printed label, but then it does a
form feed. The printer stops with 1 printed label and 9 blank labels. How
do i control the form feed after printing??
Re: Tractor fed Label Printing and form feed or label size
may need to adjust the Label Height or the number or Rows per page in
Label designer. You may also need to create a paper type in the Windows
printer properties to match your Label Designer Settings.

fine, then page feeds 10 more inches/10 labels as if the label is 8.5x11 page
format. How do I tell it that the label/ page is 1" high? I set parameters
of the label but the printer only has 8.5x11 fanfold paper size.

don't remember the last time I saw a tractor feed printer, so that may
not be available in the driver. Did you set the ROWS in the label
designer to 10 (or 11 - however many rows are on the sheet)?

Panisonic 2130 properties for paper size and all just have the common 8.5x11,
A4,envelopes, fan fold 8.5x11, and such. The owner has boxes of 1x4in fan
fold tractor feed labels and gets impatient when he uses his laser printer
with labels 3 columnx11 rows of labels, espically if he his printing a few
labels and he has a partial sheet of labels to deal with. His old program
use to use the tractor feed labels and it worked fine for 1 label or
hundreds. May be I am not looking in the right place in the label designer
to make that setting. Thanks for the help.

How
Re: Tractor fed Label Printing and form feed or label size
Start | Settings | Printers | File | Server Properties | Look for a 3.5 x 1
inch, if not there, create one | Create new form | name it * 3.5 x 1 inch so
it will be the first in the list | 3.5 inch wide .09375 high | Save it
Go into the 2130 Printer's properties | Preferences button | Paper tab |
select the tractor feed | Advanced button | find the * 3.5 x 1 inch you just
created | Apply | Device Settings tab | Tractor feed | select the * 3.5 x 1
label again for all 3 lines | Apply | back to the General tab | in the
Paper Available box, you should _only_ have the * 3.5 x 1
In RMS, use the 4145 label, either with or without the Bin location printed
on it

I load a generic text driver or WinXP drivers for an Epson or Panasonic
tractor fed printer and get a propperly printed label, but then it does a

Re: Tractor fed Label Printing and form feed or label size
I get down to here in your directions and pull up the printer properties and
the selection for my newly created label is not in the drop down.
Do I need to reboot so the file will be read again or redirect it to look
somewhere else??
I appreciate your efforts...

Sorry, you need to select the printer first (click on it once), then create
the form, File | Server Properties...

even started fresh with a created printer setup for the Panasonic. Then made
a new label size. Then went back into the printer and the drop down for the
paper output just had the standard size media available. I go back to the
Server Properties and the newly created labe is there, but not in the printer
output/paper size selection drop down menu. I even tried this on several
other machines and have the same situation. I do appreciate your continued
help.

Dunno, just went and did the same on all 7 machines here, SBS 2003, 5 XP and
a W2K, and all worked. Logged in as an Admin?

NOTE: New forms are stored on the computer where they were created. When you
create a new form for use with a shared printer, create the form on the
print server.
NOTE: On a Windows 2000 computer, occasionally the newly created form will
not appear in the drop down list under paper size. If you encounter this,
you may need to select an existing form under server properties, modify the
settings, check box to create a new form, change the form name and save the
form. Once you save the form, it should appear in the paper size drop down
box.

I did what you said but it just does not exist in the drop down selection.

finding is that on the print server there is a list of forms like 20-30 of
them from metric to US sizes, including my newly created labels. Now on the
printers there is only 5-7 forms, not the entire list from the print server.
Are you seeing the entire list from the server on the individual printer
paper/ output form drop down selection??

Re: Tractor fed Label Printing and form feed or label size
Looks like it depends on the printer driver. I see more with the generic
than with the specific printer.
