URGENT: Run Time Error '429' in Store Operations Administrator

I'm constantly getting a run-time error 429 - ActiveX can't create object - when trying to run Store Operations Administrator on my back office PC.

The Store Operations Manager also fails on the back office PC - can't connect to database -.

The register (POS) is still functioning as is the server where the RMS database resides.

How do I fix this?

I've never seen Active-X errors from Administrator. I'd try uninstalling RMS on that system then reinstalling it. Also make sure you apply whatever service pack you're running on your other systems.

Sometimes POS or Manager will throw this Active-X error if there is no windows printer installed, so you could check that, but I have never seen Administrator do this.

You have to use Administrator to configure the database connection on each system before Manager is going to work, so it's not unexpected that Manager is failing. Also, each system needs to have a unique register number - even if it's only used for management functions. Create a register in Manager - Database/Registers/Register List and set the register number in Administrator

Try reinstalling the MDAC components. Enter the following commands in the Start | Run dialog box (or from a DOS command prompt).

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ado\msado15.dll" regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ado\msador15.dll" regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ado\msadox.dll" regsvr32 "C:\Windows\System32\dzactx.dll" regsvr32 "C:\Windows\System32\duzactx.dll"

Type it as it is and do not remove the quotation marks.

I have noticed this error mostly when there is an insgtallation of both SO and HQ on the same computer but there was a service pack or hotfix installed between the SO and HQ installations.

Then when the user attempts to reapply a hotfix it screws up everything and you get the Active X error (Well I did).

My option was to remove both apps, then install them, then apply the hotfixes so it can apply to all.

Good luck.
