credit card changed numbers

Is there a way to "combine" quicken accounts?

There was apparently a massive security breakin (so what's new?) so one of my credit account was re-issued to me with a different card number (otherwise all was the same). So now Quicken has downloaded this credit card's transactions into a newly created Quicken account. But the old Quicken account for this credit card still exists under the old account number but with no new downloaded transactions.

For the sake of continuity, should I a) find a way to combine the 2 Quicken accounts? (if that is even possible in Quicken)

b) change the download information on the "old" Quicken account and see if Quicken will now re-download the new transactions into this account?

**If I do this, will Quicken erase the previous transactions in the old account because they no longer belong to the new credit card account number?

c) just continue with 2 Quicken accounts for this credit card account?

Thanks for any advice.

This has happened to me several times. I edit the old account, and "Close" it. That should disable all online services. Then I rename it to something appropriate like "Old Wells Fargo Visa". Then I hide it.

Finally I rename the new account to the old account's original name - "Wells Fargo Visa".

The transactins are still there in case I need to refer to them, but the old account isn't cluttering up my display.

Thank you. Will do likewise.

Shame there isn't a way to just combine 2 Quicken accounts.....

When I get a new card number, I just turn off online downloads for that account, change the card number to the new number, re-enable online downloads and link it to the existing account. There's usually a handful of duplicate downloaded transactions - I just delete those. No muss, no fuss.

I second (or is it 'third' with the '+1' :-) ) the idea of simply changing account numbers during a turn off/turn on operation. The only thing I'd add here is that in the cases this has happened to me, you might see a lot of 'TRANSFERRED' transaction amounts from the 'old' to the 'new' account on the bank side that have yet to be cleared. These transfers from the bank side will not be reflected in your Quicken register. These are NOT duplicates, but still can be deleted as long as you indeed account for the original charges in the old card that need to be retained in the register and subsequently cleared. Hope that was clear.

This happens often enough that, if Intuit is looking for new features to add to Q2017, Quicken should just provide an option to change the card account number, then show a dialog with the transactions it thinks may be duplicates or transfers after the next download.

Happened recently with my B of A AAA Visa and this worked just fine. No duplicates, nothing out of the ordinary
