In the upper right corner of the register pane there is an icon that looks like a sprocket wheel nect to an arrow pointing down. Click on it to display the Action menu. Near the bottom, check the box next to "Two- Line Display"

Or press the 2 key while holding down the Ctrl key

The ICON ("...looks like a sprocket wheel nect to an arrow pointing down.) is called the 'gear' - a fairly standard practice and location across Windoze screen UIs. (Why Intuit doesn't have this particular option (the 2 line display) in their preferences which is just as logical since much of the other stuff is there, I don't know why.)

I gave up wondering why the Intuit designers do anything a long time ago. It's as if they have to move stuff around and change the interface just to be able to claim that this release is better than the last one.
