Revision 6 Issue

I let Quicken update to rev 6 and it trashed the program. It says to reload but i am having trouble finding my original disk. Hopefully I can find it but I do all my bill paying etc. with quicken and I need to get it running again. Any ideas or suggestions?

====================================Perhaps someone else will chime in with more excruciating details but ... Go to the Quicken Site

formatting link
and select Support. On that Page, on the right-hand side under Announcements will be a link to an R6 fix - follow it through the manual update and you s/b good. I had that ah gah dah (sp?) last night.

Be aware your register Balances are probably going to be funky. For some absurd reason "they" decided to now show the running balance ONLY when By Date is the Sorting Option. Doesn't matter if you had By Date By Order Entered etc. - only By Date now.

I don't want to go down that rabbit hole of P&M but it sure seems like the connection to basic accounting and the impact upon users has been compromised. Geo. Salisbury Long Valley, NJ

They walked me thru the fix and all is now well. Their web site has the fix called Mondo, just D/L and run.

ps56k,

A quick question - should you install the R6 inside Quicken first and then apply the patch, or have they fixed the issue inside the R6. Want to be sure before I update?

Thanks

I haven't touched anything yet... letting the dust settle. The other posters to this thread have installed various scenarios - might read/reply with those folks.

What's on the Q support site:

If you downloaded the R6 patch prior to 9am PST today, 4/30/15, you may have experienced an installation error. Please try to install the patch again; these errors have been resolved.

If you attempted to install the patch after 9am PST, and you continue to experience an error, use the link above to install the manual patch, and if that doesn't work, the mondo patch.

Ok, thanks

I normally get a notice in Quicken when a update is released. I have not received one for R6. Anyone else received the notice in Quicken for R6? Maybe I turned the notification off by mistake - looking thru Quicken, I don't see where you turn the notification on or off?

Thoughts? charliec

I could not even start Quicken (H&B) because it tried to update and died. I finally had to just manually install the mondo patch from the website and now it seems OK

I have been following this issue in the newsgroup for a couple of days. I kept checking my Quicken's version number and it was version 5. Then yesterday after rebooting my computer, I opened Quicken and was greeted with an "upgrade in process" window. Twice during the process an error window appeared stating something about the patch having corrupt files. Then it would just crash and shut down. This repeated every time I attempted to start Quicken. The error message suggested using the original installation media so I did. Quicken proceeded to uninstall itself and reinstall. When it got to the upgrading portion of the installation I was concerned they it would just upgrade itself to version 6 and crash again. When the installation completed Quicken started with no issue. I checked the version and it was version 6. Weirdest Quicken upgrade experience ever...go figure. Rich

FWIW - Immediately After I read your post (Rich), I opened Quicken, expected to see R5 & then would initiate the upgrade. As soon as I clicked the Quicken icon to open the program, it prompted me to upgrade. Held my breath & clicked. All went well.

You can also update Quicken 2015, Just Google "quicken 2015 manual update" to see how to do it.. That fixed it for me.

Glad it worked out for you. The bottom line is that however this patch screws up, just reinstalling Quicken should sort it out and update to version 6.

After waiting for the dust to settle... downloaded & installed R6 via the OSU prompt.
