Stop it! I say STOP!!

[Qkn Dlx 2016 R6 on Vista Ultimate 32 bit SP2]

BACKGROUND: As most do, I suppose, I have a Memorized Payee List. I also fo llow the practice of manually entering every transaction, and letting Qkn f ind "New" ones on downloads, thus alerting me to errors or forgetfulness on my part, or dastardly fraud against us. In manual entries I frequently, bu t not always, have a notation in the Memo field (what I bought, whom we inv ited, etc.).

ISSUE: After downloading transactions, on acceptance, Qkn often fills a Mem o field that I left blank with "garbage" from the FI - usually a transactio n code of some sort and a phone number, presumably of the vendor.

I know about the setting in the Memorized Payee List to avoid auto-categori zation, but nothing there about auto-memo-scribbling.

QUESTION: How might I curtail the auto-memo-scribbling?

I admit I haven't tried (or tried and forgot result) entering a "space" in the Memo field when I have nothing to say, just so it looks "occupied field " to Quicken.

Thanks to all.

That is probably the solution. I don't know for sure, but it definitely makes sense that the space inserted in the memo field is probably the answer.

Tried it and actually remembered to check. SPACE does not work and gets ove rridden by FI downloaded string. HOWEVER, a hyphen does do the trick. I'll try a period next time around.
