csa-1099R taxable amount

I am helping my mom with her taxes and she has a CSA-1099R where Taxcut is asking me to enter the taxble amount of the anuity. I don't see that value on the form but I do see a box labeled "taxable annuity" (which is about 95% or the gross annuity). Is this the taxable amount? Thanks.

Hmmm, what is a CSA-1099R form?

Did the Confederate States of America ever issue such forms?

That would be the 1099 that we retired Federal bureaucrats, at least those of us under CSRS, receive.

This info from Taxcut should help you:

How Do I: Enter civil service retirement benefits from CSA-1099R or CSF-1099R?

We recommend that you complete the 1099-R Interview topic rather than entering information from your CSA-1099R or CSF-1099R directly into the 1099-R worksheet. To complete the 1099-R Worksheet Interview:

  1. Click the Take Me To... button. 2. Scroll down to the Retirement and Rollovers under Income; and select IRA, Pension Income (Form 1099-R). 3. Click the Go To button. 4. Click Yes or Begin. 5. Click Form CSA-1099R or Form CSF-1099R. 6. Proceed through the remainder of the Interview screens.

Well I'll be darned. Just never noticed I reckon, even though I've been doing returns for CSRS retirees for more than 30 years. Of course way back then it was on a W2P form as i remember. But there will be one of those on our next year's return, since wife retired CSRS last Dec 31st. ChEAr$, Harlan
