Data available from the IRS

This may be the wrong forum for this, but just curious what kind of data the IRS makes available to people. I guess I could just call them. But I'm most interested in raw data. Do you happen to know if it's easy to grab, say, a flat file of all 2015 w-2 wages with zip code? That's a lot of records but easily something excel could handle. I'd like to see the distribution of wages in different areas.

Have you looked at the IRS website?

First of all, they don't disclose any information on individuals. But they do keep statistics. Here's at least one:

The department of Labor website,

has a quarterly count of employment and wages reported by employers covering 98 percent of U.S. jobs, available at the county, MSA, state and national levels by industry. Look around: maybe they have what you are looking for.
