LLC question

I had a California LLC.

Because of lack of business, I closed it by filling a form with the CA secretary of State. Now I might have some business again but I do not need to have a LLC anymore.

Can I use the same name "without the LLC" and use the same tax number?

If not, should I use my SS# as the tax ID?

You cannot use the same tax ID number because the money is being earned by a different taxpayer - you rather than the LLC. You can use your own social security number, or get a new tax ID number for the business.

As far as using the same name, that's not a tax issue, it's a trademark issue. As long as there is no ongoing business that has a name confusingly similar to the one you want to use, you should be ok. You will probably have to file a fictitious name statement with your county recorder, though, and renew it every five years.
