" This is why I think mixing business bank account interest with personal bank interest is counter- intuitive. ... I am not going to challenge the rule if it says schedule B. My OP was to find out what's the rule because I couldn't find the rule and couldn't find a proper "intuitive" place on the forms either.

An interesting twist on this is my state (Hawaii) considers that interest as business interest regardless of where on the 1040 it is placed and it is included in gross receipts subject to the Gross Excise Tax (Tax Information Release 42-74).
