Proof of identity

I've just had a letter from my bank, demanding that I send certified documents to prove my identity.

Not so unusual for a new account, you might think. But I've been an active customer for over 20 years. WTF?

However, they often will not accept the letter that they sent to you as proof of address but will accept a statement.
