OT: Reading old Turbotax forms

I realize this is off-topic, but I thought I'd throw the question out here before heading to a turbotax group.

Is there a program that will read old TurboTax forms? One year's version of Turbotax can't read earlier versions' forms. I'm wondering if Intuit offers a utility to do that, or if anyone has created a shareware program that will do that. Not looking to CHANGE a form, just read it.

The only way that I'm aware of to do this is to re-install the old software.

That's what I was afraid of. Also afraid that the old software might cause conflicts with current version of TT already installed.

I have multiple versions of TT on my machine and never have experienced a problem. When you reinstall, make sure that you grab the patches and run those in also. Usually they have never affected me, but one never knows...

I always keep the old tax software and download the last update for the software. I then burn them (along with the TT file) onto a CD. This is solely in case I need to submit an amended return.

For the future, be sure to print your returns (complete as well as for submission) to PDF files. This way, you don't need the old software just to read them...

The PDF option is relatively new to turbotax, isn't it? Like in the last three years or so?

Also, part of my problem is Katrina -- you know, the hurricane? It wiped out all of my paper records and a good bit of my electronic ones as well. Though I have found scattered turbotax records, and even old programs. I don't have a specific need for any of the old forms right now. Was just wondering, though, in case the day ever came when I would need them.
