Price Update Problems?

I just downloaded mutual fund prices and got zero change. Further investigation shows prices for tomorrow June 30 in price history. Anyone else having this problem?

I just updated month-end for my Canadian version of Quicken, and it has turned into a disaster. One of the stock quotes for today, Sat., June 30 (actually should be the same as for yesterday, Fri., June 29) was 10x actual value of $56.62 - showed as $566.20. Price quotes for previous 4 days were correct ($56.62). Even though I deleted the incorrect quote and replaced it, the Net Worth values continue to include the consequences of that incorrect quote, and validating or super-validating the file do not show any errors. Doing a FILE COPY does not correct the problem either.

I have had more problems with this version of Quicken since I bought it earlier this year, than with any previous version over the past 15 yr.

Any suggestions on what to try next.. other than getting rid of Quicken?

I got back a note from Quicken customer disservice saying that the quote problem will be fixed on Monday.

I'm not saying I believe them, just that I got a note from them.

After posting the previous message, I discovered that ALL Toronto TSX stock quotes for June 30 were 10x the Friday quotes - took a while to go through and manually delete and re-enter - Quotes for mutual funds appeared to be OK.

I too had the problem Friday evening and on Saturday

FYI, i just ran (Sunday afternoon) "Update Prices" and about 1/2 picked up the 6/29 quotes. I could not figure out any rhryme or reason - some stocks & mutual funds updated, some did not / alphabet sequence didn't make sense either.

I then tried "Download Historical Prices" and everything is now updated.

I do of course have a lot of spurious 6/30 price quotes.

Why did you waste the time manually correcting them? By just waiting a day or two or until the problem was resolved and THEN re-downloading them, the problem would be solved without wasting your time with the manual tweaking. WHY doesn't anyone HAVE to have new prices EVERY FUCKING DAY??

Clue: NONE of the f****ng stock markets were OPEN on SATURDAY, June 30,

2007.

new prices EVERY FUCKING DAY??

I think your last sentence should read "WHY does anyone need new prices every day?" In answer to that question I would reply, Why not? Is it too much to expect correct prices to be available every day?

I think most of us were aware of that on Friday June 29th. That's why we were so amazed that Quicken Price downloads were dated the 30th. Please read the thread and try to understand what's going before you reply.

I don't think we can blame this all on Quicken or Intuit. The software is working just fine. What seems to be broken is the quote downloads. I'm amazed that the number 1 financial program would have such poor customer support. If Microsoft needed an edge to break into the market, this is certainly an opportunity.

Nothing surprises me when it comes to Quicken's price updates.

Well, based on your experience, MY experience and that of many others, yes, it is too much to expect of Quicken.

I also found a spurious quote for one of my stocks. The quote was for

1/10/2010!

You have such low expectations. I do think it is reasonable to receive daily price updates. I have one stock investment that goes back to May 1976 and I have all of the quotes in Quicken - yes some had to be imported.

The first thing is Intuit passes on to Quicken customers the prices the receive. They don't gather these quotes, but they are provided to them by a vendor.

I work for a Fortune 10 company that receives numerous of data feeds. There are only a limited number of vendors - just visit a dozen or so financial sites and you will get a short list of them. My company, like Intuit, has numerous data problems daily. It so fun to deal with incorrect credit exposure, risk exposure and the manual corrections when the overnight files have problems. While I deal with commodity prices, it really is no different then stock quotes.

Oh please....

How much does the service cost Intuit? How many copies of Quicken are sold? What is the cost of the service per copy of Quicken? Probably some very small portion of the cost of the program.

It is a financial management program. Pennies matter. We're not playing horeshoes here.

Intuit needs to get it right, and fix their attitude when they don't.

I ask this question because it seems to be the Most Often Feature Complaint in Q.

Or am I just imagining it?

It amazes me that Quicken continues to have this same issue over and over and over. For God's sakes, Yahoo gets the quotes correctly, and on time. Why the **** can't Intuit get this corrected? This problem influences my recommendation when I am asked about businesss and home financial programs for the end user. Let's just say, Quicken is losing in that regard.
