Quicken Advetising Popup

Started QD2011 up this morning and was greeted by an advetising popup for Mint. I am very unhappy.

Sorry Guys,

I don't see any pop-up in Quicken 2007, R7 and to the best of my knowledge never have. This is probably a stretch, because I have no knowledge that Quicken uses Internet Explorer settings, but I do have the IE 8.0.7601.17514 pop-up blocker on.

Windows 7 64-bit, SP1 Windows Live Mail 14.0.8064.0206 (I know it's old, but it works for me.) Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0.647.0

Other than the above, I have no clue what gives you a pop-up and not me.

Me four! I can't stand it when I receive such solicitations when using a paid product. Boo!

Well, let's draw a deep breath and relax - yes, we all paid for Q. (But less than $100 for the functionality is a great deal!). But, if this gives Intuit some additional income and is not TOO invasive and keeps the product afloat (hey, Microsoft Money 2011 doesn't have pop ups....), then I'm willing to overlook it. (I acknowledge each individual's tolerance for 'too invasive' varies.)

btw, as an aside, my friendly New York State Thruway is starting running ads in their tollbooths - first up is a Geico sign at the booth when you get your ticket. It's a sign of the times. (no pun intended).

Ads are jammed down my throat everywhere I go. At least Firefox has anti-ad add-ons, so I don't have ads flashing at me when browsing the web.

But ... I just got another Mint-spam-ad telling me something about IRAs. Grrrrr. I wish we could turn these off, and I wonder what's started them all of a sudden.

Cheap software or not, I don't want to see giant pop-up ads in Quicken.

Margaret

I'm still at a lost. See me previous posting. I'm not getting any of the pop-ups mentioned here. Not that I want them, but why are some getting them and I'm not?

Didn't you say you were using an older version of QD? This may a new feature to QD11 that didn't make it into the public feature list.

Robert,

My bad, I'm using QD2011, R7, not 2007 as I previously posted. Sorry for the confusion.

Interesting then. Not sure why it hasn't shown up for you. So far, I've only seen it once.

FWIW, nothing here either, QD2011 R7 (20.1.7.4).

I'm running QP2011 R7. I can't imagine they'd spam Premiere as opposed to Deluxe, etc. Regardless, my plan is to downgrade to Deluxe with Q2012, as I don't believe I use the extra features and thus will save some $$.

No spams today though. :-)

Margaret

Got it here too with QP2011 - twice now.

And for Mint, of all things! I've been getting real close to closing my account there due to pure, unmitigated annoyance.

I got rid of my Mint account back in 2009. I never found it to be very helpful, and Quicken does everything I need. I find it odd they'd be encouraging us advanced users to use Mint. Ugh.

Yeah, because Intuit hasn't made enough, already.

Kinda like Charlie Sheen, who says he's suing CBS because they're taking food out of his kids' mouths!

I too have no intention of using Mint (though I have an account there, so I can keep up with what it does). But if you read enough posts from Quicken users, you'll discover that many users are not only not "advanced users"; some can barely tie their shoes ... Quicken-wise. For those users (and those who claim Quicken costs too much), Mint could very well be a better alternative to Quicken.

Sorry, I forgot to add: So why should Intuit be denied the opportunity to reach out to its existing customers to point (some of) them in a direction Intuit thinks those customers might benefit from?
