Under what situation(s) would calculating the RMD for each IRA account (as the IRS requires) yield a different result than computing it once on the total balance of all the IRA accounts?
When the various IRA accounts use different RMD tables - such as an IRA you funded from your own employment (Table III) versus an IRA you inherited from your brother (Table I).
