California State Lottery Winnings

Jan 30, 2011 1 Replies

A Lottery Winnings question. I won a Calif State Lottery sum of about $2200 in

2010 and received a Form W-2G for it. Do I just report that as income and is there a special line that it needs to be recorded on on the 1040.

Thanks for any insights

there a special line

Yes, it is income for your federal return - line 21.

For California purposes, it is exempt. Don't forget to make the adjustment on 540 Schedule CA.
