employee business miles

Employee works and lives in Springfield MA. He has an office in Springfield, not a home office. One day a week he travels to Boston -

90 miles - for business. He is not reimbursed for it. His is reimbursed for other client travel but not this trip to other company office for required meetings. His company has office in Springfield and Boston. So, 80% of time is in Springfield ares, thus making this his tax home I think. Can he deduct the Boston trips he makes once a week?

Sounds like a yes to me.

It's a unreimbursed employee expense subject to a 2% of AGI floor.

To be candid, on the surface it's awfully cheap of a company to require out-of-town employees to pay their own way for required meetings.

Not if it's a "non-accountable" plan and folded into wages.
