Filing Status?

Feb 10, 2007 1 Replies

I worked in only Delaware in 2006. I bought a house in New Jersey in 2006. My wife and I got married Dec 2006. My wife worked in NJ for 2006. I had no NJ tax withheld since I told no one I moved to NJ until Jan1 2007 My questions is: I was thinking about filing a joint federal return, but for the state returns, I would file in Delaware separately and she would file in NJ separately. What is the easiest way to do this or should I do something else? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are married at the end of the year, you can file a jt federal return States are another story. You may have to file separately, if your residency status is not the same. ___________________________________
