i have only owned my home for 1 and 1/2 years but have to move for a job.

i have only owned my home for 1 and 1/2 years but have to move for a job. I plan on buying a home of equal value at my new location. Do is still have to pay Capital Gains on the money I will make on the home?

Maybe. You may be eligible for a reduced capital gain exclusion:
