NYS tax, itemized versus standard deduction

Instructions for IT-201 say that if we use Federal standard deduction we must use New York standard deduction. This year it's not a problem for me, but in tax year 2019 it will be: I won't have nearly enough
Federal deductions to itemize, but my deductions will be well above the state standard deduction.
Does anybody know if the legislature plans to relax that rule? I know there have been other changes to mitigate the ill effects of the 2017 tax bill on NYS taxpayers.
