This was a surprise to me. I did not think you could claim the credit unless the income was yours or your spouses and you had retired from the job where the income was earned.
Yes, we do allow the retirement income credit to be taken in this situation, but not the survivorship deduction.

He is not retired but this is clearly retirement income. Can he claim the retirement income credit based on this income? Tax software claims it by default and you have to manually determine that it is not qualified.
