Are annuities considered part of the estate as far as the total value of the estate. The annuties have four beneficiars listed with equal amounts to be distributed to each. Thank you in advance for any information.

Generally, yes. Ohio Rev. Code Ann. 5731.09 Annuities.

There are exceptions for annuities arising from government employment. Also, the value of the estate includes the value of the annuity only in proportion to the decedent's contributions to the purchase price. Anything contributed by an employer is not taken into account. Katie in San Diego
