turbotax not providing IRA deduction for spouse

Mar 25, 2005 1 Replies

I'm using Turbotax on the Web this year as I have for the past few years. I'm running into a possible bug this year. Turbotax allows my 3k traditional IRA contribution to be deductible, but for some reason will not allow my spouse's traditional IRA contribution to be deductible (even partially). The rules for the deduction are pretty clear cut, and we satisfy them....neither myself nor my spouse participated in any employer-sponsored retirement plan, we are both 32 years old, and our combined earned income is well beyond $6000, so we should each be allowed up to 3k deduction for traditional IRA contribution. Does it sound like a bug?

That's not it Phil. I have indicated to TurboTax that neither of us participated in a retirement plan.
