How to correct a Posting Date?

Q2015 Dlx. Is there a way (some 'magic' key strokes) to correct the Posting Date of a Transaction in a Checking Account Register?

I could be mistaken but I think how to get access to the Posting Date has been mentioned but I didn't save it or can't now find it if I did.

Inattention to detail allowed transactions to be matched to incorrect entries and reconciliations are now out of kilter. The AR in me prefers to have reconciliations agree statement by statement as a way to intercept oddball situations.

Thanks for any reference to a resource. George Salisbury Long Valley, NJ

Greg,

If I'm understanding you correctly, you can simply click on the date column and change the date. At least that is what I just did in Quicken 2015 under my checking account.

========================No that doesn't allow me to fix it. It's the first thing I tried of course. It's the d/l'ed Posting Date I want to fix - not the [entry] Date. Thx. Geo.

Right click the transaction. Hold down CTRL while left clicking "Copy transaction(s)". Change the Posting Date and click OK.

============================Thanks John that's what I was looking for - it did the trick. I was able to get my reconciliations to match to a sequence of statements. I remembered it was a non-intuitive sequence but couldn't find where I may have saved it. I saved it again - this time in a couple of places Geo. S.

Note that the rules for determining which transactions qualify for a reconcile changed a bit starting in Q2015.

My situation had been one of simply letting a downloaded trx be matched to the wrong entry. My mistake. I had some manually entered trx that had not yet "cleared" and, failing to look closely, Accepted a match to the wrong trx. Patching the Posting Dates allowed me to have correct Statement to Quicken Account reconciliations. I'm good to go. Geo.

Thanks John for the tip. I can edit the posting date and now get my reconciliations work. However, when I show the posting date column, the date I adjusted is still showing the original posting date - is that what you experience as well?

As explained in the FAQ now located at:

There are two postings date fields. The "Downloaded Posting Date" is displayed in the posting date column. The transaction "Posting Date" is displayed using Ctrl + "Copy transaction(s)". It is the transaction "Posting Date" that is used by reconcile.

Thanks for this information. This is the most ridiculous user interface idea I have ever seen.
