Harley Davidson (HOG)

I noted this morning that HOG reported 4th quarter profits up 10%, helped by a 29% increase in international sales. For those who agree with me that diversification is a key ingredient to a well-rounded investment plan because it reduces risk, and that a good investment plan is part of a good financial plan, HOG cranks out win-win.

Another excellent choice -a small jewel- is Prospect Energy (PSEC). Its valuation look awesome -a P/B of just 1.17, P/E of 8.73-, it has a healthy EPS growth rate, a low beta of just 0.84- that helps reduce the volatility of the overall portfolio- and for those interested in steady income, it has a dividend yield of 8.8 percent, combined with a dividend payout ratio of 64 percent. For those interested in both long-term capital appreciation and steady income, PSEC looks the right choice because of its undervaluation and its high, sustainable dividend yield.
