how soon after market close do funds update

how soon after markets close, do the tickers for mutual funds vanguard, t rowe price, fidelity etc.. update?

then I look at smartmoney.com or morningstar.com, it would appear that at

16:30 it's still the previous days close but then later in the evening, hours later, the numbers suddenly are current

Morningstar.com seems to update their numbers sometime between 18:00 and 18:30. Maybe individual fund company web sites post the numbers before that if you're in a rush. ;-)

Quicken's "Update Security Prices" online lookup seems to get the updated mutual fund prices between 18:00 and 19:00 for the most part. every once in a while, it won't have one or two (usually from the same family).

Every ticker service has different schedules for update. I often see Yahoo's prices update by 3:30PM EST while Google's run an hour later.

Maybe CST? The market closes at 4PM EST, and the funds need a bit of time to do the math. JOE

Uh, sorry, readers. MST is two hours shifted from EST, that's what I meant. 6PM EST = 4PM MST.

Fidelity provides instantaneous pricing of their funds in an account you may hold with them. These are "unofficial prices", but not far off.
