Peachtree-capable auditors?

(Trying this forum, instead. Any takers?)

We would be interested in looking for an outside auditing firm servicing our area (SE Wisconsin) that is Peachtree-capable.

Our current CPA firm has us as their *only* client using Peachtree, and this has caused unnecessary extra work from time to time due to lack of familiarity.

Anybody know a Peachtree-capable auditor they would recommend? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Using Peachtree, you shouldn't restrict your search for "a Peachtree-capable auditor" to your geographic area.

From my long ago active accounting practice in the "city", I still serve a few clients whom subsequently I switched into using Peachtree. Being many miles away now, the Internet serves well, as I can do year end work with their data files and communicate via email.

You should be searching for a proficient, Internet savvy "Peachtree-capable auditor" anywhere within the United States. Geographic distances no longer matter.

Thanks for the tip, Ted.

Just out of curiosity, how would you handle inspection of original documents?

Also, would staff interviews be by phone?

Thanks again for the ideas.

Erich .... My apologies .... It's been so long since I've performed an actual audit, that mistook your use of the term "auditor" as a generic term for a 'professional accountant in pubic practice'. Your quest for a "Peachtree-capable auditor" then becomes in part an cost/benefit issue, weighing the costs of additional fees for travel to have an auditor attend your office, relative to the total costs of having an audit performed by a professional not proficient with specific software applications.

I'm not familiar with the status of "small business" audit and non-audit reviews in the United States but in Canada according to a follow up study I read afterwards, years back when the professions attempted to increase the quality of reporting standards, understandably the typical small busyness user was unwilling to pay for the increased time involved so the accounting engagements reverted to the lowest reported standards allowed, and consequently the specific term "auditor" seemingly became less understood, so in practice acquiring broader application as to meaning independent accountant.

->Thanks for the tip, Ted.

Thanks for the education, Ted.

It turns out there are a number of Peachtree-ready CPA firms in this general vicinity, with fulltime auditors familiar with corporations like ours, so this won't turn out to be a problem.

Thanks again for the help!
