Manual for RMS Software

We are in the process of converting several stores over to RMS from an old DOS-based system. It was brought to my attention recently that if you want a manual with the software you have to purchase it? This wasn't the case with

1.2, there was a manual supplied with every license purchased. For those who have yet to convert and have purchased their licenses are receiving the software a few weeks prior to their install and would like to read up on the system so they're a little ahead of the game before their install takes place. To ask them to purchase yet one more thing when they've already invested quite a bit of money up front for these services is truly uncalled for. Please bring back the hard-copy manuals when licenses are purchased.

You need to contact your reseller or Microsoft directly at the number listed on Customer Source and open a ticket requesting one. Our reseller is looking into getting manuals, but I am running into dead ends everywhere. I had a return call from Microsoft where they told me I could get the electronic version from them, but I said I wanted a hard-copy, not an electronic version. Then they suggested me printing the manual myself, and again, I said, no, and that I wanted the hard copy.

I had a ticket in with Microsoft but they closed the ticket and stated in my ticket I could get the 1.3R from our reseller, but no mention of where to get a hard-copy of the manual for me or my stores.

You may have better luck if you're just asking on your behalf. Try contacting Microsoft directly and see what they say. They did respond very quickly and it's a "free" support ticket requesting v1.3R, which according to Jeff's response is shipping with the hard-copy of the manual, however, our reseller has not received any manuals with their software.

David,

From the 1.3R disk;

1.3 Updated Documentation

The Store Operations Getting Started Guide and User's Guide have been completely updated and are available both online and in printed form to customers currently on a service plan.

The Getting Started Guide is included as a .pdf file in the \SO folder on your CD or in your download package. A .pdf file containing the User's Guide can be downloaded from the CustomerSource or PartnerSource Web sites. Point to Documentation, click User Guides, and then select Retail Management in the Product box. From the results list, select the 1.3 Refresh guide that you want to download.

Alternatively, you can order printed copies of both books from the Microsoft Dynamics online store at

Expand the For North America Orders department in the left pane, expand Documentation, expand Reference Manuals, and then click Retail Management System. Be sure to order the 1.3 Refresh version of the guides.

Has anyone actually seen the updated User Guide? (For 1.3R)

When I go to Customer Source, as Jeff instructs, I can only find the updated Getting Started Guide. I don't see a User Guide for 1.3.
