Bill Reminders vs Direct EFT payments

Have recently started playing with our Q2209 - which is mostly used for Investing - Setup some Reminders for our manual check writing. So how do you setup the Reminder for other electronic payments ? ie - some direct EFT payments or if you use some other "bill payment" service.

How do you connect the Reminder to the checking acct payment, when there is no check # to match -

When I bring up the Reminders, I can see "Paid" and "Cleared" status, but only for those items with a real check number.

When one sets up a new bill reminder, one of the fields to complete is named "Pay from account". Select the account from which you wish to pay the bill.

When one pays the bill and enters the transaction, one of the fields presented in the dialog box is "Method/Check Number". In this field you can enter a check number, but one can also select a method, i.e., "EFT" or "Debit".

Almost none of my reminders involve a manual check so perhaps I am not fully understanding your question.

I'll have to play a little - ie - an automatic payment where you have given the "payee" your checking acct number, routing, etc and they - as needed - withdraw from the account. Looking at the checking account statement, it merely lists the entity with some cryptic name & seq number, and the amount paid.

So - was wondering how this downloaded "entry" would be married to the pending/paid reminder ?

If the downloaded transaction looks the same as an unpaid scheduled transaction, when you go to enter it as a "new" transaction from the download list, Quicken should ask, "Is this the scheduled payment due on blah-blah?" or words to that affect. Answer yes or no as appropriate.

If the transaction is already paid, Quicken should mark it as "Match". If it matches incorrectly or does not not match it at all, you can then manually match it.
