Black book value of Vehicle

I am using Quicken 2005 Canadian edition.

I would like to maintain the Black book value of my vehicle in Quicken and see the depreciation of the car.

Is there a good website that would let me see the black book value for my car (for free)? If so, what is the website?

Also, how would I enter this into Quicken's vehicle account?

Thanks

would a logical choice. There you can get "dealer trade-in," "private party" and "dealer retail" for used cars.

Go there monthly or quarterly, get the new prices and enter the adjustment as depreciation. That should do what you want. That's how I do it.

For another point of view, I use Edmunds -

You can save the entire URL that delves down into the specific used car you might have after navigating to the right model and year, and retrieve it later on for future recall for the same car. I save multiple URLs this way in my IE bookmarks for the wife's and kid's car.

For me, I just have the cars as PROPERTY and DEBT accounts in Q, and just use the UPDATE BALANCE function every six months or so after looking at the current balance.

In addition to the KBB and Edmunds suggestions, also check out NADA. Some US states use NADA "blue book value" for figuring sales tax on used vehicles in a private-party sale, as opposed to the actual purchase price (CT did this in 2003 at least).

I am selling my vehicle and found that its value varies widely across these sites - a US$4000 range, with KBB being the lowest and NADA being highest. Whatever you choose to use, be consistent, using the same for each adjustment.

You're in Canada, so Your Kilometerage May Vary.
