Thinking of doing something silly...

I'm one who bitterly complained about the new TT and bought H. & R. Block software rather than pay the extra for TT.

Today an e-mail came apologizing and explaining they'd fixed the problem, put the removed forms back in and would refund to anyone who had already filed, etc. etc. as has been already discussed here.

I'm very pleased the company I've dealt with for over 20 years has decided to "do the right thing" and I'm really tempted to buy TT this year to reward them for doing it.

What think everyone?

NOTE: I'm happy with the H&R Block software so far, if I buy TT I'd be wasting the $20 (OK, $19.95 if you want to nitpick!)

I'm NOT going to reward them for anything - I did not read that they would fix the problem NEXT year. Next year, if I understand them, it will be just like it was at the onset of the fiasco except there will be no correction because we all had a year to understand their method of product definition an what each contains..

A company with as many years in business as they have had still does not see the value of its long-time customers and still tries to milk a few extra bucks from them. AS many "smart" people as they have working for them, I expect them to get it right the FIRST TIME.

I'm done with TurboTax - H&R Block is my tax program.

The letter also reads:

"Next, we are committed to bringing back the product you know and love. By the time you are ready to prepare and file your taxes next year, the TurboTax desktop product you trusted in the past will include the forms you've counted on for years." "I understand our actions have caused anger and frustration, and our response has been far too slow. TurboTax is committed to regaining your trust and providing you with the level of excellence you have come to expect."

Everyone screws up, how they handle a screwup is important and TT has handled this one pretty well IMHO.

Ah yes, H&R Block. A fine company that doesn't gouge its customers either with its fine business practices like extraordinarily expense Refund Anticipation Loans and various governmental inquiries thereof.

All other things being equal, to me it is the product that counts, and I like TurboTax. Why switch because of this marketing mistake? Hell, if I didn't change with the DRM fiasco Intuit foisted on us about 5 years ago, this one is easy to deal with.

Time will tell. Meanwhile I already paid for Premier but I see that I probably need H&B for my Sked C. Supposedly today (7 Feb) I can upgrade for free, but I don't see that option anywhere yet. I guess I am out the delta for Premier since I already bought but haven't filed (and won't until April).

I took advantage of HRB offer of free Deluxe Tax Cut so will audition that this year as well.

You're OK, TT will upgrade itself for free when it decides it need to do so, that information is hidden in the upgrade info during the install.

I got the paid deluxe also and had to go buy TT as H&R Block will only import their VERY SHORT list of brokerage houses and it doesn't include one I used for dozens of transactions! My arthritic fingers would make it almost impossible for me to manually enter all those sales so.... I like the H&R Block software but TT has already imported those transactions for me as it did last year.
