529 Plans

I hope my question is not considered Unrelated to the tax forum's
objective!
I have a one year old grandson, for whom my son and I both want to
start a 529 plan. My son thought that there are a (some?) state plans,
that will charge their In State Tution fees, if one has a 529 plan
based in that state. My net search did not result in verification.
My question? Are there any states whose state universities will charge
in state tuition costs, when one has invested in their state 529 plan?

I am not aware of any state that waives in-state tuition for nonresidents just because they have a 529 Plan in that state. The most knowledgeable website on the subject of 529 Plans is

If you want to know which states provide a tax benefit for their residents that are contributing to a 529 plan, you can find that at the above website. Here's a shortcut.
