Child Tax Credit

Mar 31, 2016 2 Replies

I support my son and his 3 kids, he has little income. They all live in a house that I own about 5 miles from my residence. Can I claim the Child Tax Credit since it is my home but I don't live in it? In other words, they live with me,etc.

tks all

No, you can't claim the child tax credit. The children did not live with you. They have to have lived with you (for more than half the year) in the same home that you lived in. Children who live in a home that you own but don't live in are not living with you.
