Can a church pay the direct medical expenses of a clergy member without tax consequence? (Mainline religion with

Is this an employee who gets a w2? & does it have a plan in place that covers its employees for such expenditures? ___________________________________

w2 employee. My understanding is that this is not a cafeteria plan, but an agreement that was made when employee was hired to pay up to $1,000 in medical expenses. I think this would be taxable income to a "for profit" business employee, but didn't know if there were different rules for clergy. Thanks Bill

Not sure offhand if a non profit religious organization can have a medical reimbursement plan. You would have to research that.
