Foreign Earned Income/No taxes paid by corporation.

Man I would really appreciate some help on this one.

I have lived in a foreign country for several years and haven't been in the states since 1996 only for 20 days vacation. I have claimed Foreign Earned Income Exclusion on my income taxes based on the corporation I worked for paying the taxes due. Now I find out the company isn't properly registered so legally there is no company and no taxes were paid to the local government.

My only option as I see it, is to now claim self employment and pay the local government its due.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

No one will be able to give you a useful answer without knowing which country you're talking about.

Also, whether you're entitled to the foreign earned income exclusion does not depend upon whether you paid foreign income taxes.
