How to deal With W-2 and 1099 with Incorrect EIN

The treasurer of a small Not-for-Profit I am associated with issued a few W-2 and 1099's with an incorrect EIN for the organization. The treasurer corrected the error today and will file the corrected forms with the IRS tomorrow. People who have not yet filed their 2014 tax returns can use the new forms. But, what should people do have already filed with the incorrect EIN? Do they file a corrected 1040 now, or wait until the IRS gets back to them, or will the IRS pick up this small error?

If they efile the return, the IRS should have probably rejected it with a name/EIN mismatch code.

Otherwise wait, and if you hear the IRS grumble about it, then send them a copy of the corrected form.
