How to fill out 1040X Part I

I am filing a 2008 1040X, but not changing my exemptions or line 4. As I read it, I don't put anything in Part I; but TaxCut automatically fills in a bunch of zeros, and puts my original exemption in line 30 and line 32. I think the proper thing to do is to override TaxCut and leave all blanks in Part I; but I hate to override TaxCut when I really don't know what I am doing.

Does leaving it entirely blank sound right?

(Yeah, I know about the 3 year limit on amended returns, but I am simply including a 1116 that wasn't originally filed, and the IRS says they will accept it with a 1040X.)

The 3 year limit is for refunds. You can amend further back than that, you just won't get a refund.
