Is the first result of idverify.irs.gov the controlling one?

such verification services use a wide variety of data, so they probably knew you lived in Phoenix at some point. I sometimes get a choice which is wrong, but I know why they have it in their database. I answer it correctly, and it doesn't bother them. They know some of their data may not match, that is why they ask more than one question.

When you hit the back button, your data was lost, and the site got confused. So, it said based on the lost data, you are not verified.

I would assume you were verified. I don't know how you can tell on line when your return has been processed, but others may know.

Well, all of this is my opinion. Others may have a different take on this.

Like many people hoping/waiting for money from the IRS, I go to that popular site as soon as I can connect in the morning, and I have it as a button on FireFox's bookmark bar. But because I believe moderation, on some days, I impose self-restraint and read a news story first. Then I eagerly check Get Refund Status. Anyway, nothing has changed. The now-familiar answer is "processing".

Since I made the original post, I researched the issue a bit. From the postings I've read, a lot of people were concerned if the site was fake. That wasn't my worry. I happen to know it's difficult to get a top level domain name of .gov , and I also know sending traditional mail is too expensive to be part of a mass phishing scam. Thus, I concluded it's a legitimate site.

So, Alan, are those sites in your sig yours? They look like they took a lot of work to put together.
