Orthopedic Shoe Inserts

Are shoe inserts, prescribed by an orthopedist, a deductible medical expense? I see crutches are deductible, but what about a cane?

A cane would be deductible if a licensed medical practitioner advised you to get a cane for balance while walking or to aid you in standing upright. Shoe inserts prescribed by the orthopedist are deductible as they are for treatment of an ailment or for prevention of an ailment... typically pain when walking.
