Is a dormant C Corp required to file a federal tax return?

If no, is it necessary to send in a blank return with the notation of "dormant corp" or something to that effect? [There were no activities in 2017 and may stay that way until I decide whether to terminate the corp.] TIA

Yes, a dormant corporation is required to filed a federal income tax return.

Yes, even a corporation that has no income or deductions is supposed to file a federal tax return. It's likely also required annually to file documents with the state in which it is incorporated, and pay a tax or fees there to keep it in good standing.
