Recommendation for Tax Planning Software

I'm looking for recommendations for tax planning software that could be used to make quick estimates of the year end estimate payment due in January. I know of many low end tools like TaxTools, but the problem I have with all of these is that they don't record detail accounts. So for example if you expect to receive five 1099-INT from five banks/brokerages, you want a way to enter in those five accounts and an estimate on interest paid for each one, and have them preserved as separate line items. Most of the tools I have seen make you construct a single interest paid number and leave it to you to sum up the different sources outside of the tax estimation tool.

We use Lacerte for final preparation, but would consider that massive overkill for estimation tool.

All suggestions are appreciated.

I actually use TurboTax online exactly for that. Since it's a tabbed interface, you can fill in only the data you already have on hand and then just skip over to the results page (before filing, of course) and even before that you get nice updated "amount owed" figure on every page as you are adding new data. Then, when 1099s come in, I update the amounts if required. Most of the time I can just see exact amounts by visiting online pages of the respective institutions because the info online usually becomes available quicker than the paper 1099 comes in the mail.

I can't remember for sure if you actually pay them anything BEFORE filing because I always end up filing with them anyways, but I think you can start a TurboTax file for free and pay only when (if) you file using their service. One disadvantage would be that you cannot (I don't think) export the data into a different software but if you're just looking for quick estimate, it may suffice.
