Roth and Loan Forgiveness

Hi All -

I just got an inquiry from someone who is in the public loan service forgiveness program. His accountant has had him set up a backdoor Roth IRA. But now he has run accross information that makes him think the Roth could disqualify him from the loan forgiveness.

I couldn't find anything that would indicate that a Roth IRA, however created, would interfere with the loan forgiveness program.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

The PSLF & TEPSLF programs have no eligibility requirements that include the value of your assets. Eligibility is based on who your employer is and whether you made the requisite 120 qualifying payments.

Thanks Alan. That what it looked like to me, but I wasn't certain that I had it right.
