Signature on Gift Tax Return

Jan 02, 2008 3 Replies

A client of mine had given several substantial gifts of cash during the year and a Gift Tax Return was going to be filed in January 2008. However, the client died in December 2007.

Will I still be able to file the form 709 or will the Estate have to file it? If I file it, who will sign it?

Thanks in advance

All facts point to the estate's executor or administrator only who will sing the return.

The executor of the estate should sign the 709.
