It's Feb. 8, and I still haven't gotten my 1099-G for 2009.
Are governments exempt from the deadline requirements for sending this form? I suppose the obvious answer is, of course -- it's the government.

January 31 for those 1099-Gs they are required to send. Note that a state is not required to send an individual a 1099-G for an income tax refund if the state is aware that the individual did not itemize deductions on the federal tax return. I do not know if any states follow this exception. There is also a good cause exception to the 1/31 date.
1099-G for 2009.
New York State decided it could save $700,000 by not mailing them, so it you are a New Yorker it ain't coming.
well, there's your "good cause"!
They should have let Santa drop them off on the 25th of December.....just say'n. It would have saved a lot of money in shipping costs.
