I bought a new condo in 2003, lived in it two years then rented it out in 2005. For Depreciation - Form 4562 it asks for "Date acquired?", is it 2003 or 2005 ?
When is a rental property 'acquired' ?

I don't see where the form is asking for date purchased. What matters is the date it was placed in depreciable service, which is 2005.
Think software. The data input screen doesn't always reflect the form. Or the code and regs.
