I use the above for holding/dealing shares.
The have just written to say that they do not have my nationality on record:

Barclays Stockbrokers is required by Barclays Group Policy to obtain this information from you in order to adhere to the mandatory Know Your Client (KYC) requirements and Anti-Money laundering regulations.

I note that they don't actually say that legally they are required to hold the info.
Obviously they can say it is a condition of my contract with them - but legally I don't think they have to have this info - nor can they insist??
(I suspect that they have sent out to everyone - they have set up a dedicated line to deal with it)
