Quick question to settle an argument. Is there/are there much in the way rules relating to non UK nationals starting up businesses here, that arent applied to UK/EEC people, with a view to giving the British "first pick" as it were? Say, for instance, an American, or someone from Far East came here, and decided to open up something, say a shop, for (a very bad) example. Would he or she find obstacles put in their way that weren't put in the way of UK citizens that might plan to do the same. That is, start up a business for themselves. As long as they are legally here, and already have some kind of long stay visa, that is? I know there are things like Entrepreneur Visas and the like, but what about the "cottage industry" businesses... a localised hobby type of a business?
