I'm expecting payment for a vehicle via banker's draft (from Allied Irish Bank). Since the transaction is being done at the weekend I won't be able to take it to a bank until the Monday.
Is there any way of validating a bankers draft to check for forgeries? Does anyone know if a bank would normally be prepared to confirm whether or not a draft had been issued in my name (if I called the day before, for example)?

No they would not.The fact that this is happening at the weekend makes me suspicious.Why not ask for cash or CHAPS payment on a working day ie either friday or delay until monday. If it was me I would not let go of the vehicle in any circumstances. Eric
