IHT in Italy

Hi,

For Inheritance Tax reasons in UK, my husband and I are to change the ownership of our home from "Joint Tenants" to "Tenants in Common".

We want to do a similar change on a property in Italy (recently given to me by my father). Does anyone know if this is possible in Italy? Does anyone know the terminology in Italian?

Thanks.

I don't think so. I could be wrong, but when we bought our home in Italy the only options given were to own the property in my name alone or to own it in joint tenancy.

If you want the name of a good lawyer I can ask the man who did the legal work on our sale to find out - I suspect that he would want you to pay him though. OTOH you *should* be able to get an impartial answer from any notaio.
